It makes me sad to think that you could still be pining after someone 50 years later - always wondering how things might have turned out :(

yeh, but i think of his current wife. for him to have that hidden like that and to be prepared to throw it all away on a romantic whim...

I know what you mean and I certainly wouldn't like it done to me... but who doesn't have romantic fantasies? He's obviously of a generation that says it's not right to have these feelings so he's just had to live with it all his life. :( Don't you have fantasies about running away somewhere or with someone?

I do feel sad for his wife too. The whole thing is just really sad. :((((

but he says he's happy... i am a romantic and am definitely big on running away! but if i am going to get married to someone then they are the one and there won't be any other fantasies. i hope. cos that would make everyone sad!

I know - but it's life that you're always attracted to other people, no matter how long you're with someone. It's just whether you act on them or not. And he obviously hasn't acted on it if they're still together.

I don't know what I'm getting at any more. I think I can just identify with him because I get the feeling the girl I'm seeing just isn't the one and I'm fantasising about others. Which just isn't good on anyone. Oh, but I can't split up with her yet - I'm going to visit her in hospital today - she's having a pretty rough time.

Who made life so difficult?
